The Michael Mazzeo Gallery specializes in contemporary
photography, works on paper and related media. Originally named Peer, the
gallery was founded by photographer and educator, Michael Mazzeo in October,
2005. It has since become one
of the premier showcases of new and under-recognized talent in New York's
Chelsea Gallery District, having awarded nine artists their first solo
exhibitions in New York City and including nearly 100 others in
group exhibitions. Our artists and exhibitions have been featured in many
prominent publications, such as The New Yorker, The New York Times, The
Los Angeles Times, Art In America, the Village Voice and numerous
online venues.
Our client list is international in scope and consists of museums,
foundations, corporations, seasoned collectors and novices. Works from
the gallery have been acquired by major institutions including the Metropolitan
Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum,
the Princeton Museum and Fidelity Investments, as well as by many private
collectors. We have also provided many new collectors with their first
works of art.
We believe that art should educate and inspire, challenge assumptions and confound
expectations. To that effect, we maintain an eclectic program of outstanding
exhibitions, compelling art, engaging gallery talks, book signings and special
events.
